And Bard himself:
For processing siding we opted for the patina of India.
Composition and properties :
Composed primarily of colloidal silica, potassium silicate, borate (boron salts) and water, Patina petrified wood, making it extremely hard, so that insects can not the attack.
Its alkalinity and the presence of borates confer its anti fungal and purifying.
Exclusively mineral, it contains no substance that can decompose over time and becomes on the contrary more and harder.
In the woods protected by the patina of Indian insects do not recognize the nutrients they seek (starch, lignin, cellulose ...) and which are mineralized, and secondly the mushrooms' s will not develop.
Laboratory tests
tested by an official body (CIRAD in Montpellier) in his department specialist termites, the results gave a 100% mortality of insect repellent with an important is- to say that termites are not able to attack the wood, fleeing the treated samples.
An important tip however : despite a natural and liquid like water it is imperative to wipe all traces of running on windows , (glazed tiles etc..) Otherwise having to change the windows.
Cleans up with water.
Detail of a door frame
Details siding that was cut to reduce the impression of height.
The edges of the siding have been worked so that the battens are embedded in it which reduces their thickness.
